Oncology Massage
Oncology massage therapy is a specialized form of massage therapy designed specifically for people who are living with cancer, undergoing treatment, or recovering from treatment.
Therapists trained in oncology massage understand how cancer and its treatments—such as surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, or immunotherapy—affect the body. They adjust pressure, techniques, and positioning to ensure the massage is safe, gentle, and supportive.

Oncology massage may help people who are:
-
Currently undergoing cancer treatment (chemotherapy, radiation, immunotherapy)
-
In recovery or remission and still experiencing physical or emotional effects
-
Experiencing treatment-related symptoms, such as fatigue, nausea, pain, anxiety, or neuropathy
-
Living with chronic cancer-related side effects, such as scar tightness, limited mobility, or lymphedema risk (always requires a trained therapist) (an oncology massage therapist can help guide the lymph from affected nodes, but for lymphedema one should see a trained lymphatic drainage therapist.)
-
Family members or caregivers who are under high stress and need supportive relaxation

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a gentle, specialized massage technique designed to stimulate the lymphatic system and encourage the natural movement of lymph fluid.
MLD helps reduce swelling, improve circulation, and support immune function—especially important for individuals managing lymphedema or recovering from cancer treatments.

Not All Massage Therapists Are Trained in Manual Lymph. Drainage
MLD requires advanced training and certification because it involves precise, light, rhythmic movements that follow the body’s lymphatic pathways. Choosing a therapist with proper MLD training ensures safe, effective care tailored to your needs.
Compression Care for Your Cancer Journey
At Leduc Physio & Compression Care, we understand that cancer treatment can bring challenges like swelling, discomfort, and changes in mobility. Compression therapy is a gentle, effective way to support your body—helping you feel more comfortable and confident every step of the way.
How Compression Helps
For oncology clients, compression can ease both short-term treatment effects and long-term concerns such as lymphedema. By improving circulation and supporting lymphatic health, it helps reduce swelling, relieve heaviness, and restore freedom of movement.
