Understanding TMJ: More Than Just a Jaw Issue

Do you ever feel a clicking or popping in your jaw? Experience pain while chewing, or wake up with headaches or facial tension? You might be dealing with TMJ disorder—a condition that affects the temporomandibular joint, which connects your jaw to your skull.

At Leduc Physio, we specialize in helping you find relief from TMJ-related discomfort through personalized physiotherapy—and now, intraoral massage therapy too!

What is TMJ?
TMJ stands for the temporomandibular joint—the hinge-like joint that connects your jawbone to your skull, located just in front of each ear. It allows you to talk, chew, yawn, and move your jaw up, down, and side to side.

This joint is supported by muscles, ligaments, and a small disc that cushions the movement between the bones. When something goes wrong with this system—whether due to injury, stress, arthritis, or muscle tension—it can lead to a condition known as TMJ disorder or TMD
